Bible Study in James

As promised, here are some questions that I hope you all will get a chance to answer on this blog! The answers can be found in James chapter 1…

1.  Why should we be joyous when we find our selves in all kinds of trials?

2.  According to James, how does God perfect His folk?

3.  How will this affect the way you view and react to your trials?

According to James 1:2, we should “count it all joy” when we are tried. It’s an opportunity to exercise and strengthen our faith in God, when we patiently wait for His timing to move in a trial. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing (James 1:4). As we wait, patience is at work, perfecting us, making us like Jesus. We are being conformed to His image. I view trials as blessings in disguise, and God perfects us through them. When He brings me through, rather than being broken into pieces, I emerge whole, entire, strengthened, and God is glorified.

Amen…good stuff, Sondra!! You are absolutely correct. God uses the trials we go through as his divine workshop where He puts us in the furnance and allows the impurities to be burned off. So many times, people want to curse the trial and invite people to their pity party. But as Paul declares in II Cor. 12, after receiving the promise that God’s grace is sufficient, Paul decided to “glory in his infirmities and take pleasure in his persecutions…” Those are the signs of a Christian who has become “perfect [complete] and entire, lacking nothing.”

Again, good stuff!! I can’t wait to hear from others!!

According to the word, GOD perfects us through our trials. See James 1:2-4.
Trials build perseverance, and the result of perseverance is spiritual growth and maturity of the believers.
