“Divine Strength” - 02.04.10

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  Matthew 6:34

COBBC,

GOD supplies all the strength we need to do all that He’s called us to do. Have you ever considered that Father rations this strength in the same way He rationed manna to the children of Israel?
Our Father provides sufficient strength each day for the challenges of that day…and that day only. This strength doesn’t carry over from one day to the next. You either use it, or lose it.

I believe, and have often said that Father will not give you enough strength today for the confrontations, obligations, and challenges of next week, next month, or next year. Instead, that strength will be deposited in your account precisely when you need it, and not a moment before.

If you’re stressed and overwhelmed today, check your strength supply. I’ll bet you have enough to get you through this day.

And that’s all you need for now.

Remain BLESSED,

Deacon GB

“Silence Before God” - 02.03.10

Good Morning  Children,
Do not be rash with your mouth, and  let not your heart  utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.
                                                                             Ecclesiastes 5:2

King Solomon, believed to be the author of Ecclesiates, sought everything the world has to offer in his attempt to find fulfillment. He concluded that our search for significance and meaning is in vain until we seek God.  We are to enter God’s presence to receive a word from Him, not to ask Him to do our bidding. We are to adjust to His will, not ask Him to bless ours.

It is good to offer God our praise and to express  our needs, but to leave His presence before He speaks is a travesty.  Waiting on the Lord and listening to Him are foundational to our relationship with Him.

Be Blesssed

“This Little Light of Mine” - 02.02.10

Good Morning Children,

Perhaps the best thing about light is that it rarely serves itself. It fills our world  to make vision possible, yet is so transparent that we never see it. (think about that for aminute or two)

You are the light of the world.  A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.  No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, rather on a lamp stand, and it gives light for all  who are in the house.

In the same way let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven.

                                                                               Matthew 5:14-16

When you are filled with  Christ’s being, you become that brilliance that helps the world locate it’s value system.

“Holy Hunger” - 02.01.10

Good Morning Children,

Holiness is a hunger to be complete in spirit.  It’s a craving for wholeness, a reaching out to the moral God.  Blessed are those who care about holiness, for it is the characater of God.  Minister Gloria Watson talks
about it all the time.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be filled. Woe to you who  are full now, because you will be hungry.
Blessed  are those who are persecuted for righteousness, because the kingdom of heaven is theirs. Woe to you when all people speak well of you, because this is the way their forefathers use to treat false prophets.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Matthew 5:5,10; Luke 6:25a,26

Many study Christ’s doctrines and call themselves Christian, but the true lovers of God can never have enough of Him. So the question is are you a true lover of God?

“Sacred Sadness” - 01.29.10

Good Morning Children,
Blessed  are the poor in spirit , because the kingdom of heaven is theirs. But woe to you who are rich, because you have received your comfort.
Blessed are those who mourn, because they will be comforted . Woe to you who are laughing now, because you will mourn and weep..
Matthew 5:3-4; Luke 6:24,25b
The kingdom of God has always been a gathering of the hurt and broken. Where these turn to each other, the church is born.

“Happy and Blessed” - 01.28.10

Good Morning Children,

Jesus did not seek a single throne. He wanted  a million heart-shaped thrones where His rule would be unseen but all- powerful and alive within the masses.

Blessed are the gentle, because they will inherit the earth.
Blessed  are the Mericful, because they will be shown mercy.
Blessed  are the pure at heart, because they will see God.
Blessed  are the peacemakers, because they will be called Sons of God.
                                                                                                        Matthew 5:5,7-9

The gentle and mericful, the pure and peaceable, have shackled the dragons of heavyhandedness, and as a result, their world is blessed.

DO YOU WANT TO BE CALLED A SON / DAUGHTER OF GOD?

“Field Service” - 01.27.10

Good Morning Children,

Don’t you say, “There are still four more months, then comes the harvest”?  Listen to what I’m telling you: Open your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ready for harvest. the reaper is already receiving pay and gathering fruit for eternal life, so the sower and reaper  can rejoice together.

For in this case the saying is true: “One sows and another reaps.”  I sent
you to reap what you didn’t labor for; others have labored, and you have
benefited from their labor.
                                                     JOHN 4; 35-38
Has the world grown  so secular that people have lost interest in the good news? Yet  everyone wants to know how to replace the deadness  at the center of their  souls with meaning. The first step is looking. The rest is an act of  courage where Christ empowers you to  serve.

“Coming & Going” - 01.26.10

Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky  have nests, but the Son of Man  has no place to lay His head.
Follow Me, let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and spread the news of the kingdom of God. No one who puts his hand to tje plow and looks back is fit for the Kingdom of God.
                                                                             Luke 9: 58,59,60,62

The key  to obedience in following Christ lies not in finding out where He’s going, but in following Him  even when you have no idea where He is going.

“Go Fish” - 01.25.10

Good Morning Children,
Follow Me, and I will make you into fishers of men!

As you go, announce this: “The Kingdom of heaven has come near.”
Heal the sick, raise the dead,  cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. You have recieved free of charge; give free of charge.

Put out into deep water and let  down your nets for a catch. Don’t  be afraid. From now on you will be catching people!
                                                  Matthew 10:7-8; Mark 1:17; Luke 5:4,10b

The difference between fishing for fish and catching souls is the difference between the Hallelujah and the chorus..

Working as Unto the Lord - 01.25.10

I hope and pray all is going well as you start your work week.  As you carry out your tasks, I think these are some good principles to internalize…maybe even print them out and place on your wall or desk.

HOW TO WORK IN ANY ENVIRONMENT

  1. Don’t expect to be appreciated at your job.  Your only expectation should be to get the job done that you are paid for!
  2. Do your job well, but remember your mission.  God put you there to be a light.
  3. Seek opportunities to change the atmosphere without commenting on the problems.  You have a God to talk to.  You are on assignment.  Quietness and competence shall be your strength.
  4. Don’t let the environment get inside you.  You should influence it, and not let it influence you.  Stop going to work to be fed.  You didn’t come to receive, you came to give.
  5. Increase your capacity to work with different personalities.  God will often bless you through people you don’t even like.
  6. Remember, where you are does not define where you are going.  This will deliver you from frustration.  God has a plan for your life.  Keep your eye on the prize.  When Peter did this he was able to walk in what other people sank in.
  7. Get the optimum results with minimal confusion.  Be effective without making the environment worse.
  8. Don’t be associated with one group or a clique.  Labels limit your usefulness.  God wants you to work with everybody but be labeled by nobody.  Use all your gifts.
  9. Always keep your song near you.  Keep a consecrated place in your soul.  Hold on to your praise.
  10. Understand that God anoints your for trouble.  Put on the whole armor of God before going to work.
