Willie Kemp’s mother (Maxine) in dire need of a kidney transplant
Willie Kemp’s mother, Maxine Kemp is in dire need of a kidney transplant since she lost both of her kidneys. In an effort to spread awareness and raise funds in her honor please read and share the following article and donation links.
Here is an excerpt from the Commercial Appeal’s story by Dan Wolken:
“A couple years before Willie Kemp enrolled at the University of Memphis, his mother Maxine lost function of her kidneys and had to get grueling dialysis treatments just to survive. Though it was rarely discussed publicly, his mother’s health significantly impacted Kemp throughout his career as a point guard for the Tigers.
Now, Kemp is using his platform as a former basketball player at Memphis to raise money for the National Foundation for Transplants, which is helping Maxine Kemp in her quest to get a new kidney…” Read more on the Commercial Appeal’s website

Bible Study - August 2010
We’ve been dealing with Providence in Bible Study and I wanted to get your “wheels turning” on what we’ll be talking about next week. One question we will be discussing next week is this: What is the relationship between God’s Providence and Sin?
“What Do You Want From GOD?” - 05.28.10
Good Morning Children,
Read 2 Chronicles 1: 6-12
There in front of the Tabernacle Solomon went up to the bronze altar in the Lord’s presence and sacrificed a thousand burnt offering on it.(vs. 6)
That night God appeared to Solomon in a dream and said,”What do you want? Ask and I will give it to you!” (vs.7)
Give me wisdom and knowledge to rule them properly, for who is able to govern this great nation of yours? (vs.10)
God may not have made You ruler over a nation, but He has put you in charge of something. Maybe you’re head of your household or perhaps you’re the “boss” on your Job. Maybe you’re a Preacher, Teacher, Grandparent, or a stay at home mom, the question is still the same .
WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM GOD?
Read vs. 11-12 for help with your answer.

“Relax In GOD” - 05.26.10
Good Morning Children, Read: Psalm 105:4; Luke 10:39-42
Relax in God’s Healing Presence. As you spend time with God, your thoughts tend to jump ahead to today’s plans and problems. Bring your mind back to God for refreshment and renewal. Let the Light of His of Presence soak into you, as you focus your thoughts on Him. He will equip you to face whatever the the day brings.
This sacrifice of time pleases God and strengthens you. Don’t skimp on your time together with Him. Resist during busy work, the stuff that will neither make or break you, and “chose what is better and it will not be taken away from you”.
Be Blessed

“Seek My Face” - 05.24.10
Good Morning Children,
Read: Psalm 27:8, Romans 13:14, Colossians 3:12
Seek God’s face at the beginning of your day. This practice enables you to “put God on” and “wear God” throughout the day. Most people put on clothes soon after they get out of bed. The sooner you “put God on” by communicating with Him, the better prepared you are for whatever comes your way. My momma use to say “when I meet the LORD first I can deal with the rest of y’all.
To “wear God” is essentially to have God’s mind: to think Godly thoughts. Ask the Holy Spirit to control your thinking: be transformed by this renewal within you. Thus you are well equipped to face whatever people and situations He brings your way.
Clothing your mind in God is your best preparation for each day. This discipline bring Joy and Peace to you and those around you.

“Parts Unknown” - 05.23.10
Good Morning Children,
When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will not speak whatever He hears. He will also declare to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you.
Everything the Father has is Mine. This is why I told you that He takes from what is Mine and will declare it to you.
John 16;13-15
Do we see everything? All of the will of God,for our lives, for all time? No. But enough of it that we can see the next step we can take in safety. Ask the blessed Spirit of God to guide you. The night is somehow too
dark to see without Him.
Be Blessed

“No Strings Attached” - 05.21.10
Good Morning Children,
When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, your brothers, your relatives, or your rich neighbors, because they might invite you back, and you would be repaid.
On the contrary, when you host a banquet, invite those who are poor, maimed, lame, or blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.
Luke 14:12-14
To look for treasure is selfish unless, having found it, you give it to the poor. To seek the love of Christ is selfish unless, having found it, you give it to the lonely and despised.
The best gifts are those which cannot be repaid. How about taking someone to dinner who could never manage to return the favor.
Be Blessed

“Let Go and Let GOD” - 05.13.10
Family please meditate on Ephesians 5 today:
Dear Father,
I desire to do as your word instructs, and to allow no corrupt word proceed from my mouth, but only what is good for necessary edification, that those words would impart grace to the hearers. I certainly do not want to grieve the Holy Spirit, by whom I was sealed for the day of redemption.
I pray that you will help me to release all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking from my heart. I want to be kind to others, tender-hearted, and forgiving of others transgressions against me, just as you forgave me through Jesus’ sacrifice. I ask yuo Father to mold me into exactly what you would have me become. May you allow me to walk only in love, as a child of light, and a gift to others, by discovering and practicing those things that acceptable to you.
Please forgive me of my failures in these and the many other areas of my life, and please God, help me to do better. I want to please you and be more like Jesus.
Thank you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Remain Blessed,
Deacon GB
“EVANGELISM” - 05.10.10
Good Morning Children,
How should the Gospel be presented? Read Matthew 13:1-23
Key verse 13:8: But some seeds fell on fertile soil and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted.
The Gospel message cannot be reduced to a simple formula. This parable should encourage spiritual “sowers” —those who teach, preach, and lead others. The farmer sowed good seed, but not all the seed spouted, and even the plants that grew had varying yields. Don’t be discouraged if you do not always see results as you faithfully teach the Word. There is no mathematical formula for belief (i.e, 4:1 ratio of seeds planted to seeds sprouted). Rather, it is a miracle of God’s Holy Spirit as He uses your words to lead others to him.

Can You Remain Obedient? - 05.06.10
Family,
Have you ever felt like you have been obedient to the Lord for something He called you to do and all you experience are more roadblocks? I’m sure that Moses felt this way. When Moses went to tell Pharaoh to release the people because God said so, Pharaoh simply got angry and made the people’s labor tougher (they now had to make bricks without straw).
Naturally, Moses caught the blame for this from the people. Moses was just learning what obedience really means in God’s Kingdom. You see Moses had not even begun to release plagues upon Egypt. Moses had many more encounters with Pharaoh still to come, and many more plagues with no deliverance of the people in sight.
So why would God tell Moses that He is going to deliver them and not do it? It’s all in the timing. God never said when He was going to deliver. Father just said that He would deliver. Father had a good reason for His delays. He said, “And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out My hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it” (Ex. 7:5). God not only wanted the people of Israel but also the Egyptians to know Him. It would be the greatest show of God’s power on earth.
COBBC, God often causes delays in our lives that we cannot understand. Lord knows that I KNOW all about this one! True enough, sometimes it does seem that our obedience is not being rewarded. But if we use Jesus as our measuring stick…all will become clear! Jesus said that He learned obedience through the things He suffered (see Heb. 5:8). Can you even imagine such - Jesus Christ having to learn obedience? What does that say for you and me? Sometimes God’s delays are simply because He wants more glory in the situation, more recognition, more Christ-likeness in you and me through greater patience and obedience.
Faint not Family, for the promise may yet come!
Remain BLESSED,
Deacon GB
